Ok Dokyusei takes me back to my High School days, trying out Japanese dating sims on PC, before JAST USA dating sims. I am excited, and can't wait to try it. But I do have some reservations.
1. Shiravune- The company can write a better subtitle for Dokyusei. Bangin Summer? It sounds like a Porno. Can we be a bit more classy Shiravune?
2. Marketing- Babes? Chasing Tail? The Marketing words used the description of the game can be better. It just sounds so 90s. I mean the game is from the 90s, so maybe it is just me but it sounds chauvinistic.
3. Will there be Censorship? Some people have doubts that Shiravune will be able to handle the release well. They point to past Censorship of Shiravune releases. I have not problems with Censorship, but I guess we shall see.
Hoping for a good release in March. Can't wait to play this dating sim again, but in English!

I dunno what I was expecting. But I honestly felt the way the promo was presented was kinda, uh, crass? Was the original game like that?
Also, don't you think it kinda lost its retro 90s vibes?
Man, it's weird seeing Fanza's name on a software.

Ugh I've waited my whole life to play Doukyuusei and Tokimeki Memorial and we're getting so close.
But I'm on a Mac so I doubt this new release will work for me...
With all the concerns about marketing, I do think there is a disconnect with the presentation. The game is presenting as some classy, nostalgic Key-like title. When in fact, I'm pretty sure it had some real teenage-boy-vibes back in the day. This might just be anecdotal, but wasn't the actual filename for the original called "Nampa?" Similar to Boys Be..., I think, with lots of......boy talk? Shiravune's description looks about right, it's the visuals and the music that feel off to me.
Also I'd love a version with the original graphics. It's a shame you can't choose.

I'm just hoping for a Switch release. We need more Bishoujo VN's on Switch.

For those concerned about the marketing, the original game presents the MC as a bit of a horn dog. Doukyuusei isn't a visual novel with the atypical jack-of-all trades with seemingly all the girls pulled at him like a magnet -protagonist. Part of the whole angle of Doukyuusei is you have a high chance of ending up with a classmate, but also possibly with the teacher, the hot next door neighbor, or the sex worker you eventually meet in town. It's all about how you play the game. Dokyuusei 2 and the later Kakyuusei were very similar to Doukyuusei.
All of that has been historically part of the charm of Doukyuusei and these series of games by ELF as a whole. These games don't play like the atypical visual novel. You have to actually know where to go in town at what particular time on what particular day. It sounds simple enough in concept but dynamically-controlled visual novels were a pretty big deal in the early 90s, and many VNs attempted to copy the ideals of Doukyuusei with often not the same success.
