This series was not axed. It was intended to be a limited series. Either way, it was cringe from the start. After three chapters, I couldn't stomach this series and gave up.

True, it was stated as a short series from the very beginning. Still, its has had more chapters than other "regular" series.
Also, it is Japanese humour, not everybody gets it. It went from a stalker psychic girlfriend and ridiculous spirits, to fight spoiler[Abe no Seimei because he couldn't get over his girlfriend's death and wants to take away every human soul].
