I genuinely have no idea if starting this thread is a good idea. For me, having a long currently airing watch list is tantamount to admitting I have no life. However, I am curious as to how many currently airing shows other people are watching and how long they persist with that number. So for those who are interested, feel free to use this thread to let us know how many of the shows debuting in Fall 2023 you are watching and how many you are dropping (or perhaps putting off to finish "later."). There's no point reporting how many shows you are watching until the last show you plan to check out airs. Then feel free to let us know the number of shows you drop/push aside. When you feel like you've reached your Final Tally for a season: i.e. you feel you know the number of currently airing shows you will watch to completion, report that number.

As the OP, I can edit this post and - assuming there is sufficient interest and I have sufficient energy - I will create an index for each season so if somebody wants to check the results of a certain season, they will be able to find the post where that season's tallies start.

Also, feel free to note how many "ongoing" shows you are watching in that season. For example, I have 3 ongoing shows to add to whatever my Fall 2023 Final Tally will be.

I updated my list, Blood, how many you got?

At the moment, 50 shows have my interest. I'll likely drop maybe 2 or 3, but with 5 from last season as well, its gonna be a busy season

and then there's Netflix with at least 2 full shows im interested in dropping soon and 1 I'm trying to complete

I was actually in the 40s, but decided to take some out. If I didn't feel the need to possibly try and screen cap/review certain ones, I'd probably be in 50s, too.

In terms of raw numbers, I've sampled 10 new shows so far. From that, I've concluded that I'm not going to watch any more of two of them which leaves me with 8 shows. And none of those 8 shows are on the cusp. And that folks is what we call a TRUE anime fan! Your number is very impressive too, Tony, considering all your other duties at ANN, including screencapping and reviewing.

Capping isn't too time-consuming, unless I keep piling/backlogging more shows, like I've been doing. The reviews are hard, though, because sometimes I have a lot to say, but lose track of time, and before I know it, I spent way more time than I should've typing the thing up.

I'm gonna' try a new thing and start timing myself for reviews so I can churn them out more consistently. I need to be more concise, less analytical, and sacrifice the smaller details for higher speed. Maybe one of those racing anime will help my get into that mindset Razz

I added a Poll. Also realized I missed Tearmoon Kingdom in the Discussion Index and Google Doc, so I added that. I should probably go double-check it a couple more times this upcoming coming week to make sure I didn't forget something else.

I'm down for four shows for certain and one possible.

The Apothecary Diaries If it follows the novels well this is likely to be my best of the season if not the year.

The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent Second only to the above.

Frieren Beyond Journey's End it is turning out as enjoyable as the manga

Goblin Slayer II more dead goblins.

I Shall Survive Using Potions this is the maybe depending on how it goes.

This is up from none the last couple of seasons. I think I got a bit burnt out, which strangely did not effect my manga and light novel reading.

Glad to see you are resuming watching some anime, Alan45! I'm pretty close to posting my Interim Currently Airing Watch List soon, just waiting on a few more samplings. I'm going to be at either 26 or 27 titles, depending on how I feel about Stardust Telepath. 23 or 24 of those titles are from the new season and one, After-School Hanako-kun, has short episodes. Given how many freakin' shows debuted this season, I actually feel pretty good about that number.

My preferences have shifted into not watching most straight up heavy action shows until enough episodes have aired to binge, according to whether or not the consensus sounds good to me, so, fair warning- some "big names" might not show on my list.
