Supposedly there were leaks about Pauline's inclusion so good thing I didn't come across them because that was a really nice genuine surprise. Heck, the fact there will be more vocal songs and some voice acting really shocked me. Shocked

Not only Bananza has voice acting in English, Nintendo has confirmed that the game will be dubbed into multiple languages, though I imagine the songs will be kept in English.
Speaking about its international dubs, I wonder if in the Latin American Spanish dubs Pauline could be voiced by the same VA who dubbed her in her brief appearance in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, there she was voiced by Gabriela Ortiz, who also voices characters like Shizuka Mikazuki in Zom 100 and Banri Shiunji in The Shiunji Family Children.

I am excited to see Nintendo embracing this bold new concept of mysterious new concepts like "voice acting". Gives me hope that maybe Link will actually talk beyond HYAAAs whenever the next 3D Zelda comes out.

Maybe they'll even figure out online that doesn't suck by the time the Switch 3 or whatever comes out...

I am so so hype for this, I got a little spoiled on Pauline with the leaks but was still overjoyed to see how she fit in! The voice acting is really neat too and I guess with her singing being important it wouldn't make sense for her to just do Mario type exclamations in the rest of the game. I am also excited to learn more about her, she has spent so much time being a damsel and mayor but this is the first time they are really letting her be the focus of a game with a story!

In general all the features they showed off look incredible and this went from a cool game I was probably going to get to actively salivating.

Don't get your hopes up, they're only a small indie company.

I would hope for a Japanese voice option myself for both dialog and songs.

Nah, the whole point of Link and most player characters is that they're player surrogates. Hence why Link, Mario, DK, etc will never speak. Plus I like how they don't do VO just to do it. As for online...-looks at the current state of the internet- y'know what, they're right not to trust that.

Anyway, Pauline being in this is certainly a curve ball. I guess Nintendo looked at all the self-flagellating/self-aggrandizing "sad dad" games and went "...Y'know what, what if we did the opposite of that and had something joyful instead with a silly ol' gorilla?" Also like how you can just wreck the terrain, leading to different solutions than usual for platformers. Also like how they have a bunch of old tracks from the previous entries, including samples of the DK Rap.

Honestly it's just what I need, I was just looking at games where you get to play as a kid because I find games about that somewhat cathartic and they let me have my kid protag and eat my DK gameplay too. It is also heartwarming to see comments where people talk about their actual daughters being excited they get to a have a character to relate to that they can play and gets to tag along too Anime cry

It looks like there's going to be a ton of nostalgic goodies like that too, it just keeps packing more in!

None of those characters in anyway are player surrogates. They all talk in supplementary media just fine and have for decades with no issue. There's no reason they can have voice-acting outside Nintendo being Nintendo. And defending Nintendo's Boomer-like mentality about the internet because of a general 'the internet is bad' take is a really weak defense.

It's okay to criticize companies you like into being better. You should want them to improve. Fans really have to stop defending Nintendo at every turn over outdated practices.

I am glad Zelda was finally voiced in BOTW. Link talks in the manga adaptions and it's completely fine. I'm okay with DK not talking though since he can just grunt and maybe say 1 or two words like a caveman.

I still remember people posting those Pokemon Scarlet and Violet clips side-by-side with Xenoblade clips and showcasing how flat Scarlet and Violet's scenes are without voice-acting and they removed the voice-acting from Xenoblade to show what it would be like there.

So...this is some kind of prequel considering young Pauline?

But hey, Donkey Kong form changes!

This is going to definitely surpass Donkey Kong 64. If they make a sequel of Bananza. Should let you play as other kongs, like Diddy kong, then they should come with their own 3 transformations too.

I really don't understand the snarky comment, especially when that comment about the online has really nothing to do with this game.
But yeah, I am looking forward to this one, seeing a kid Pauline rather than a baby one was a pleasant surprise.
