OK, this is interesting, I wonder what demographic this commercial is being aimed at? I mean, by the time these anime came out, I think the audiences that've watched these back in the 80's are probably now in their 50's, or early 60's.

Well, that's certainly one way to advertise with the classics!

Wow, my three favorite anime all used in one commercial! How very nostalgic. The coolest thing is that the scene from Macross Do You Remember Love? where Minmay is eating a hamburger, the hamburger is a McDonald’s hamburger!

Probably exactly that. Anything that aims at nostalgia is aiming for a target audience of people who are nostalgic for that time.

Anyway I'm usually cynical about brands using stuff for promotion, but Kawamori saying something like "I'm glad I drew a scene of Minmay and the others eating hamburgers.” just makes me smile. Like, maybe he's joking too but I think he's totally honest and it's cute.

This is tugging at the heartstrings of those who still remembers the good old days of Japanese animations. But McDonald's have done themselves a disservice by aligning with Israel and all their antics.

Wasn't that just the local franchise in Israel?

Oh, is this why I see some westerners get pissed off everytime there's an anime collab with McDonalds?

What a silly thing to get angry over.

You don't seem to be affected by the relationship between McDonald's and the very people who continually commit genocide of another people.

I think anger and disgust is the normal response.

All McDonalds are owned and operated locally, so yes. But that doesn't really matter to some people.

-McDonalds Israel offered free food to Israeli soldiers after the October 7th, 2023 attack
-Twitter activists got upset at them providing food to people following a crisis
-McDonalds tries to placate them by buying back all the McDonalds Israel franchises from their owner Alonyal over the course of 2024.
-People are still boycotting them because McDonalds is still operating those stores in Israel and people are demanding the company to shut down all operations in Israel
-McDonalds doesn't seem to want to do that so all their previous attempts to placate those people were for naught and only ended up giving Alonyal a big payout.

Basically more proof why you should never care what Twitter activists think since they'll never be satisfied. Just enjoy the cute anime collabs
