Honoka Inoue has been knocking it out of the park as Anne.

Also, interesting they bring up the pacing...

This is my Anime for 2025 candidate! Admittedly, I have not read the books outside of brief snippets or scans on-line. Anne is an example of what I consider what many would want in a strong female role/protagonist. Monica Flatley, the Eng. voice of Anne, has also been doing an extraordinary job as Anne.

I suppose my biggest criticism for the anime overall is that it is not going to be at least 36-, 39-, 45-, or 50 epi. This is 1 of those anime that I think would benefit from being such a length. However, I understand budget, viewing numbers, and sales are among the various factors that often play into the length of a series.

I honestly wished that they got at least 3 cours, one for each book.

Tbh as a big fan of the novels I really can't agree with the praise this series has received. Sure it's visually beautiful and most of the voice acting has been top notch. But 2 cour are barely enough to do the first book justice, let alone multiple. The number of episodes made what should be the experience of watching Anne grow up inappropriately fast paced. Unfortunately in these days I know I can't expect an anime to spend like over 40 episodes on one story. But at least 1 cour per book surely isn't too much to ask?

As it is I would still recommend reading the books as the best way to experience the story. If you really need an anime then you can't go wrong with the World Masterpiece Theater version. It might only adapt the first book but it does it extremely well.
