I guess I should report this here: I’ve been trying to create a release for this manga, but it doesn’t let me. I keep getting the “not from a known distributor” message. Help! Sad

I thought Living the Line had that covered? There was an article about the Instagram announcement here on ANN.

I think someone needs to add Living the Line to the list of distributors that are applicable to the create a release page or something.

Why does the forum link in the review article go here?

Well, that's not an issue for me given that I read older comic and manga way before I was even born (I've read older comic like anything from Golden age era of comic. Yes, I've read golden age Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Hell, I've read some golden age Captain America comic, and the older artwork doesn't bother me at all).

Certified horror icon and legend Junji Ito grew up reading Mansect creator Shinichi Koga's work, and it shows. In both the art style and storytelling, especially, you can see distant echoes of Ito's iconic style—almost like a blueprint of sorts.

OK, you just got several fans of Ito's work attention when you just mentioned that. That would be a good reason why fans of Ito might buy this manga despite it being from the 70's.

Partially correct. So that error you're presumably getting:
Quote:
ISBN 9781961581081 is not from a known distributor
Please report this in the Encyclopedia forum
That's because nothing from that disributor was manually added. I've now just done this. Now any ISBN that starts with 9781961581 is recognized as being from Living the Line and can be added by regular users with the wizard.
release#55001

If anyone wants a long explanation: You'll see the ISBN on the release entry broken down into sections, and when you hover your mouse over each one, it tells you what they mean. Every ISBN, UPC, and EAN has a company prefix. In order for releases with a company prefix not in the system to be added by regular users, an Encyclopedia Editor such as myself or anyone else able to manually add releases has to add it so that company prefix is recognized as valid and attached to a distributor. This is presumably to make sure only official and relevant releases are added and prevent bootlegs (a few of those are sadly in the system, they were added a long time ago, most aren't linked to any encyclopedia pages).

The first post was moved to the Bugs/Technical forum since it was about "Can't Add Distributor to Mansect Manga Release Page" rather than the review, but that moved the talkback for review as well.

So I've moved this topic back to the Talkback forum.

Thank you for fixing that Dan!!! Really appreciate that, and I hope this doesn't happen again.
