How is this in any way, shape or form newsworthy? Yeah, this dude (whoever he is) was kind of an asshole, but it's his right, he doesn't have to like the medium, or even respect it, and as long as he's not actually spreading bigotry, who cares what he says?

He can take a long walk off a very short plank from the Straw Hat pirate ship with that kind of reaction to his film being outgrossed. Tells me he's got a fragile ego.

While I do agree that this is one of those articles posted on this website that don't need to be posted, I am kind of surprised by how little you seem to know about him. But I guess that's fair at this point.

I once read a lot of people in the American animation industry had similar sentiment to shows like Pokemon doing so well in the 90s and leading to the cancellation of a lot of American animation and networks shifting to bringing over more anime rather than make their own cartoons.

I love Withers' reactions. It's like him going "Look, I'll let that slide once, but do that again and there will be more than words."

People who choose to comment on the forums of a website called AnimeNewsNetwork are unlikely to know American celebrities lol. I have no idea who this is either

This is an Interest article, meaning it’s literally not news. It’s just ANN posting something neat, funny, interesting, etc. that some anime fans may have an interest in.

Yeah I don't really watch American movies or shows these days It's just anime and streamers for me so I can't say I know what this movie is or who these people are Laughing If it's not from the 90s or 2000s which is when I watched American TVs and movies I probably don't know who they are.

Kinda surprised that people don't seem to know who Marlon Wayons is considering how prominent he was in the spoof movie circuit in the 2000s and the whole Wayans family in comedy films in general over the last couple of decades.

That being said, he's taking it way too hard for a movie that really didn't know how to advertise itself. Demon Slayer has a massive following to the point that anyone even glancing at anime would likely recognize it in some way.

All while "Him" appears to be some strange psychological horror-football movie that had trailers with a hundred jump cuts and flashes in it. Not exactly enthralling.

Why are some people in the comments so pressed? Like someone else said, this isn’t even a news article! When did “no fun allowed” peeps begin invading ANN? Laughing

I imagine the trailers were specifically trying to evoke "NOPE" which makes sense because the film comes out of Jordan Peele's production company. As a sports enjoyer, I especially understood what the trailer was trying to be, and I have no reason to believe you couldn't make a good movie out of what the trailers are trying to promote.

I also have no reason to believe that Mr. Wayans' statements are to be taken too seriously.

Anime is much more global. American football barely appeals outside the USA.

Wayans is a sore loser and this ought to lose him fans (which I doubt considering people in general)

Surely you've heard of the Scary Movie parody films, or White Chicks? I don't think I've ever seen his films but they were pretty prevalent back in the 2000s. Even today, people still talk about Scary Movie.

And yeah, like people have said already, this is an "interest" piece. As in, you may or may not be interested in it.

I do like Wither's remark though, that was pretty funny. Like, hey man, you can't be saying that stuff about anime.....
