So are going to expect future Mushoku Tensei story arcs to be a movie format moving forward?

Man, Sony wants to be the only anime company in Japan. I’m shocked they’re allowed to continue to buy more anime companies.

Bind Studio's parent companies now: Aniplex and AlphaPolis. Damn. |

So did Aniplex offer to buy them or did Egg Firm approach Aniplex?

Because studios are struggling with no money
The same thing happens in other industries like gaming - consolidation |

Wouldn't that be monopoly (the economic/competition word, not the board game of the same name). Because that's what it looks like to me. It looks like Sony is pulling a Microsoft or a Disney judging from this report. I'm not sure if Japanese regulators would allow or approve of this to go through. |

Sony is huge, yeah, but there are a frickin lot of active companies involved in the production of anime titles so as for Japan it would be far of being a monopoly, so the acquisition it's probably going to pass. |

You have boatloads of other production companies/publishers in Japan like Kodansha, TBS, MBS, TMS, Kadokawa, Bandai, Toho, Shueisha, Pony Canyon, Fuji TV, Avex, BS11, Lantis, IG Port, etc etc etc. To answer your question, no this ain't an a monopoly move (IMO). If Sony/Aniplex, acquired like 8 or more of those companies listed above at the same time then perhaps you can have this conversation. |

I just want to make sure, because the definition and anti-competition laws when it comes to monopoly can differ in countries. If Sony tried this in the US (not counting this current administration), then Sony would be under fire by the FTC and be put under the same label and scrutiny as Microsoft and Disney. I say that because when Disney bought 20th Century Fox back in 2019, there was a lot of controversies about it being an example of monopoly given Disney bought out Marvel Comics a decade earlier. Hell, Microsoft was also under fire for buying out Zenimax Media (which owned Bethesda Games and id Software), Activision, and other game developers in the last few years, there was accusation of Microsoft engaging in monopoly when they started to buy out a lot of game developers/studios. Sony/Aniplex has been buying out several anime studios or companies doing anime, so I thought it would meet the same scrutiny and monopoly definition like Disney and Microsoft did in the last few years. |
