Is it going to be bit-starved and hard subbed like everything else they stream there?

This seems like an odd fit. I thought oceanveil was targeting the more racy shows?

They said in their initial launch that they're eventually planning to add non-ecchi TV anime on their site.

OceanVeil has had "normal" anime for months now. (For example, they're the only official site where you can stream Negima! right now.)
Their library will only increase as time goes on.
It's about time for people to stop subconsciously looking down on the service just because they specialize in mature anime. With the way the streaming market is lately, that's more of a strength than you may realize.

It's just a shame that a chunk of the library of said "normal" anime is unavailable to anyone outside the US... (although I can kinda understand why that is the case)

That’s good to hear. More competition is a good thing.

While they do capture the seasonal smut shorts, OV has been trying to get unlicensed shows for a while now. On their official X they even asked people to post a show that doesn't have legal streaming for them to look into (and you got a panty shot as a response). I went for Everyday Host.

I didn't know about Oceanveil until this article, and I don't like it.

... there's a lot to unpack here, and i know what i'm saying is my opinion, but this is just how i feel about the platform personally
firstly, i feel like oceanveil already has several problems with its ui. whether it be content listings (dub, sub, premium dub/premium sub content listed separately), the very poor player, no caption/subtitle settings (most likely due to the lack of a settings cog), etc. and i feel like those should be addressed first since it makes the overall viewing experience worse...
secondly, i'm struggling to figure out who the service is for...it costs more than crunchyroll mega fan and has less content than hidive...and i feel like this is making me even more confused...
so yeah, i feel like oceanveil is in a weird spot right now for me...

...So I guess I have to subscribe to OceanVeil now if I want to watch season 2.
So random for them to pick this up when Crunchyroll already had season 1.

I mean, the explanation could just be simple as CR not wanting to pay enough for Blue Miburo S2.
