With so much Otome Villainess's out there in the wilderness, how fairs this one. Never saw the first season or read the light novel. Is it worth watching, just like our favorite 'Doom' one?

I can't say if the anime is worth watching since I've only read a few volumes of the light novel, but if you're coming into it expecting something like My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! then you'll probably be disappointed since it's a more straight laced drama type villainess series. The series though must be maintaining a good enough level of readership as the light novels are up to 12 volumes with the most recent one published in Japan October of 2025.
While it is an isekai with the protagonist awakening as the villainous main antagonist and last boss of the first game of an Otome game series, it comes off as less she's been isekai'ed and more the person who was supposed to be evil gained a conscience turning her good. While she does act to right wrongs and prevent bad outcomes that were supposed to happen, a lot of it is done with a degree that this more of a penance for the actions and suffering her original self would have caused. The most terrifying thing to her isn't that at the end of the first game's story that she is supposed to die, but that she might one day became the psychopath that was her original self and still bring about cruel pain and misery upon so many. |
