This is probably the one Watase series I've never read.

Correction: The character's family name is Saiki, and his first name is Soma.

With how big Yuu Watase was back in the early aughts, I’m surprised this one never got licensed.
This was the only Yuu Watase series I’ve read.

Same here for a long time, but it’s actually worth checking out. It’s a bit different in tone compared to some of the other Watase works — more grounded in parts, but still with that emotional depth she’s known for.

If you enjoyed her character-driven storytelling and romantic tension in other series, you might find this one surprisingly engaging. It starts a little slow, but it really picks up once the main conflict unfolds.

Yuu Watase has such a distinct art style and a way of blending high stakes with intense romance that usually makes for a licensing dream. It is a shame that fans are left with only fan translations or imports for this particular title. It makes you wonder if a boutique publisher might pick it up now for a nostalgic collector's edition. Out of curiosity, what was it about this specific story that drew you in compared to her more mainstream fantasy epics?
