They finally dared it ! Thumb up to the courageous unsung heroes from the committee production, it's a pity that it's only a film but it might be less censored this way.

The Book of Human Insects is short enough to work as a movie but GIGANT is one of the worst professional ongoing comics of its decade. Everything bad about Oku is squeezed into one. It´s also too long to fit into a film and no one will finance a trilogy. The hunt for a coherent Oku adaptation goes on but no loss here.

Gigant is…it’s a trip man. The whole thing is ultimately an ode to Oku’s love of cinema, but it’s also a love letter to big ladies. It’s certainly a unique entry for a debut animated film for K2.

Oh boy. Very curious to see what material from the Gigant manga makes it through on to the big screen. I had mentally categorized it as one of those "unfilmable" manga. Still, it's going to be a ride one way or the other.
