(Why does it say it streams in 11 days? It’s on Crunchyroll now. Can we start giving it a score?)

That was fun. Even with all their trademark weirdnesses, it’s going to be hard to keep the Ashikaga characters straight.

Even with it mentioned in several of the reviews, spoiler[evil demon Takauji comes as quite a surprise].

Happy to see this back, I really enjoyed the 1st season.
That was really nice of Tokoyuki's friends to risk themselves to bring him fish.
Retake Kamakura, I am looking forward to seeing that thought it won't be easy as there are some strong opponents including one who has a surfboards as a sheath.

What's up with Crunchyroll's subtitle layout and timing this 1st episode?

The secondary text on screen is delaying the spoken text. And there is a lot of that throughout the episode whenever there is a location or name/title text.

This was a really fun episode in general, but I also really liked how it very intentionally put respect on the names of several warrior women who have fought in Japan's history. Women always have fought in wars in any number of circumstances, but they're often erased from history. I know during several eras Japan very enthusiastically trained women to fight (I believe the Naginata was in fact typically taught to women) so getting some names and brief histories on a few of the figures was a nice treat.

The animators are having as much fun with the imagery of this series as the manga-ka does — perhaps more, since the animators are stretching their medium quite a bit more

The ED makes it pretty clear that Tokiyuki may be gathering a puppy-harem that includes a third character we haven’t met yet.

Manga readers know that Ayako has this problems with one or two of the older opponents she meets. Fortunately, none of them realize her true age, and are suitably shocked when she tells them, and also fortunately, she can kick them into the next prefecture, which makes it a lot less creepy.
