Over at Adult Swim Unleashed it was posted:

From the Atlantic Con, and reported by Talibancity of ToonZone Forums:

Here's the news announced:

-Ranma and Evangelion will not ever be coming to Adult Swim.
-52 new episodes of Inuyasha in 2004.
-Big O Season 2 "exceeding expectations
-Then the subject of Harry Goz (Captain Murphy) was brought up. They said AS was facing several different options. Finding a replacement, cancelling show and what they have done so far is write new scripts without the role of Captain Murphy.

-Saturday nights: Adult Swim is very interested in re-gaining Saturday night, and that Saturday could possibly be the movie night, they also mentioned showing the Inuyasha movies.

-New action shows will be coming, but no names were mentioned.
-FLCL did excellent, and Adult Swim was very happy on how it did.

-It is nearly impossible for them to make new Family Guy Episodes

I feel sorry for the poeple that said they'll die if AS didn't show more new Inu Yasha. Well, I got good news and bad news. Bad: It's still about 3 months till 2004 and who knows when in that year, but my best guess is March/April up to July. Good: Well, for the goverment because they'll tax the hole where they are going to put your body in.

AS taking back Saturday is both good and bad. Bad: Kenshin, .hack//Sign, Teen Titans, GI Joe, etc will have to find new homes. Where? Who knows. Good: Well, Inu Yasha Movies are being dubbed and people can stop belly aching about there are no anime movies for AS.

No Ranma and Evangelion, well, it was already stated that CN doesn't care for ADV, and will Ranma, AS made a nice little card saying no. Atleast things might change, who knows.

ADD ON: One change.

I'm sure cartoon network can easily intergrate Kenshin into adult swim or toonami like they've done with other anime in the past.

So, 52 new InuYasha episodes for 2004. That's good. One would assume that's the entire season 2, since season 1 was 52 episodes? If that's the case, I can wait for 2004, just as long as I know CN got new episodes. Thanks for the info Ataru! Smile

Sorry, but Kenshin being either displaced from sturday night or being along with other AS programming but still on saturday is good. Saturday night is one of their worst blocks and thanks to them moving Kenshin there I've stopped watching RK. Also the subject title really should have covered the fact that there is a lot of information about AS in general, not just IY (I almost didn't come in here)

Nope, it goes by the system of 26's. I'm pretty sure AS has shown parts of Season 3, so they will be well in Season 6, maybe. But yeah, new is new, people will people leave 5 to 8 months for the new stuff. *Shurgs* It toke a year for 56 new ep of Hamtaro.

As much as I'd like to see more Takahashi work make it to TV here in the States, Ranma is one that I don't see ever going over very well with the networks. Lets face it, with the whole gender bending aspect of Ranma, and the fact that quite often he/she is topless or being sexually harrassed by Happossai would make it a butchering free-for-all with the censors, and just think of of uproar the fan-boy/girl community that would bring.

We'll probably get to see Ranma over here at about the same time that we see Sailor Stars, unless ADV decides to throw it on that nice little network they're working on. But then we'll have to listen to another set of morons writing the editorial staff of Washington newspapers complaining about how immorral the show is and how it is making their child splash cold water on themselves to change their sex.

I have a feeling Saturday is going to become "Adult Swim Lite" so to speak. Maybe it'll be a place they can show some of the stuff the 20-something crowd grew up with like G.I. Joe for instance. I would really love to see something like that done, an 80's action cartoon block, over more of the same Adult Swim fare. Ofcourse showing some movies would be nice too, but you have to figure one movie isn't going to take up all that much time.

Reboot, G.I.Joe, Voltron, and Transformers, that would make for a happy Saturday night.

Cool

I was under impression that there were new Inuyasha episodes all along, but I thought they were doing another block of 16 and not 52. 52 is good.

I liked all the suggestions except GI Joe on Sat night. Wasnt too long ago GI Joe used to be on after .hack//Sign and before Batman/Superman.

But a movie is what 2 hours? move RK to AS and move .Hack//Sign to earlier. Only thing I make an effort to watch on Sat night is Teen Titans, Ruroni Kenshin and .Hack//Sign and I have seen all of .Hack//Sign so no biggie if I miss it. And Samurai Jack when they are not repeats.

Also on a quick note, Samurai Jack is now on Toonami. I saw it yesterday and was shocked because it seemed like it was redubbed with a caucasian voice instead of Jacks distinct asian accent. Anyone else catch that? why would it have been redubbed?

They should put .hack on at 11 and then Kenshin at 11:30 Saturdays followed by an anime movie or other special animated event after midnight. When .hack and Kenshin have finished, replace them with other anime series, either new or one that hasn't been repeated in a while. The Saturday lead in slots could be used for "nearly adult" edited anime on the order of YYH or Outlaw Star, with the solid adult-level fare coming on after midnight. That's just to protect against irate parents whose little darlins' stayed up later than usual on Saturday. (^_*)

I doubt that Kenshin will ever make it AS, unless AS feels like making the same mistake as they did with Outlaw Star, Tenchi OVAs, and the rest that was edited for Toonami.
