I've just recently aqcuired a portable MP3 player, and since it I'm trying to get the most out of it, I find myself reformatting most of my old music files into more compact sets for easy transport.
Here are the conversion parameters I can tweak, and their current settings: Sampling Frequency: 44 100 kHZ Bit Rate: 96 Kbit Here's my question: Can anybody recommend better settings? the 96 kbit seems ok, but the music's coming out pretty hollow. What settings would you guys recommend as a compromise between memory space and sound quality, leaning a bit more into quality? Thank You. 128kbit is the default choice for most MP3 player users, though I'm a 192/320kbit kind of guy.

If your player supports MP3pro, I'd go that route. File sizes are dramatically smaller without much loss in quality. (A 320kbps album compresses from 150MB to about 40.)
