WHAT THE HELL IS THE DEAL WITH THIS CARTOON?
my god! everyone in this show is just completely psycho.
i can't figure out how this was ever considered a children's show, Japan must have some really thin standards.
anyone know if there's plans for a second season? this just didn't answer anything.

Yeah, I know, I was just so disappointed by the final three episodes, which seem like they were written for sadists whom get off on seeing children do nasty, violent things to each other, with little context provided to explain the violence (supposedly, they skipped over a lot of what happened in the manga which would have provided some context). Why Akira does what she does is especially a mystery to me. And there doesn't seem to be any message behind the violence, other than "Kids can be cruel" or "Power corrupts".
And, they never explained anything about the "Push Dragons"... where are they from, are they completely controlled by the kids, or do they corrupt the kids minds in order to give the illusion that it's the kids whom are controlling them and not the other way around? And what is the tattooed virginal princess'es connection to Shiina and Hoshimaru and who is she anyways? I know a couple of these questions are answered in the manga far beyond the point the animated version reached, but I can't find any good spoiler sites.
By the way, this was all written in such a way that I don't need to use "spoiler" tags, which I'm not terribly fond of, to say the least.

Also, forgot to say, Narutaru wasn't a children's show, it was just in the late-night block of a premium cartoon channel called "Kid's Station"... their equivalent of Adult Swim.

If you're looking for a moral story...it's a little hard to find, but I saw it as a reflection of the many harsh realities that people go through in life....
from Shiina coming to "terms" with her relationships with her mom and dad, to the bullying that goes on with her friends (while the test tube scene might be a bit too much for some people...I found it rather plausible since kids these days can be reaaaaallllly harsh....), and especially the way Shiina deals and interacts with her friend's problems....I mean, there's no sugar-coating with this series, it's as real as it gets.......
..And as for Akira...well, I already detected massive amounts of depression from her early on.......and although the series didn't really reveal the "source" of her depression, her character development in the series was enough to convince me about the plausibility of her acts (even the part where she killed her father)...........
True, the series left a lot of things in the air.....that's why I'm hoping for a second season...if not, then there's always the manga....
...but I was still satisfied with the way the show conveyed the dark themes because they're as real as it gets...minus the dragons, that is.......
but then again, I saw the dragons as the extensions of each kid's psyche multiplied by 10......so that makes them fit.....
