Talk about which scenes, chapters, or story arcs got you hooked on the mangas you read.
Berserk: The first few volumes seemed extremely bland to me. It looked like the entire series would just be "Hey look, a guy with a big sword who kills demons everywhere he goes." Once Gutt's past was revealed, I started reading it regularly.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Dio's character got me interested. The fact that he was a complete a@%hole to Jonothan was wjat made me like him. His whole plan to break Jonothan's spirit by treating him like crap seemed lame to me at first, but it ended up fleshing him out as the villain of part I.
