Now, I am not looking for sport anime.
I need your opinion for a presentation for Social Studies.

What is the role of sport in anime and manga?
Its connections to the japanese pop culture, and the influence on the society.

Just tell me what do you think. I just want your opinion!

Sports role in anime? Entertainment. It is just a way to tell a story. For something the main characters to do while their character grows. Or more specifically, a way for a character to learn life lessons. In this way, sports anime are no different from fighting, mecha or any other type of action oriented anime.

That being said, there is a certain level or realism involved with a good sports anime like Hajime no Ippo or Slam Dunk that you won't find in other types of action anime. The manga that these two series are based off of are written by two fans of the respective sports (boxing and basketball). This creates a unique relationship with the reader. It is not just about telling a good story, it is also a way for the mangaka to share his love of the sport with his readers.

hmmm....need to think little bit more about this.
