I'm a fan of this series, is it strange because I'm a guy?
Anyway, I wanted to pick up the manga to get the whole story, on the list of volumes it labels some of them as second edition. Did they change anything important between editions?

The second edition is a bit smaller, but it's cheaper.
The first editions retailed for $15.95, then Viz realized that Tokyopop was horribly underselling them. They released their manga line in new second editions similar to Tokyopop's. They are still flipped, but now sell for $9.95.
Viz now will only make the new editions.

Is it strange that you're a guy who likes X? XD No. X is mainly what I got my boyfriend into anime with, and same goes with his friends. X may be a shoujo title, but it's one of the most badass ones out there. Besides, plenty of guys go for shoujo titles because the stories in them are more developed.

I'm a guy, and I'm hooked to X manga. I like the story, the characters, and the badass battles, blood and all. I didn't even know that there were different editions. All I have ever seen are the $10 versions at Waldenbooks.

I saw the bigger ones at BN.
Anyway, I was thinking about the series but then I saw the movie. And I cried. It hurt.
Maybe ill give the manga a chance (the oringal is always better than the remake/alternate telling)

You don't know how right you are with that. The X movie was based off what I believe was the first... 8 volumes of the manga. And it was mainly one of those animated treats for people who are familiar with the manga. It was mainly just an excuse to animate those characters. The X manga is still not over in Japan, it's so far 18 volumes, and neither the movie or the animated tv series are the full story.

Yes. But it's going to be longer than that--CLAMP was writing what would be vol. 19 in ASUKA, but they stopped...oh, six months ago? It's on "extended leave" from monthly serialization, so vol. 1 9 won't be out for...a long time.
