Okay, first of all hi to everyone, just joined the forum today. Now, the problem. I can sorta remember an anime I saw when I was younger, and wanted to try and track it down on the net. The only problen being that i can't remember the name for definate. i was hoping someone could give me some info based on what i remember.
At the start of the movie, a scientist working for the bad guys, whoever they were, had designed a special new weapon for them, it was an android boy and pegasus. I think he sent it to earth, because i remember it ends up in the hands of the good guys. The good guys have a space ship type thing (possibly has dragon in the name). Also, the head of the ship could combine with legs and arms launched from inside the ship to form another robot. Anyways, i remember that the android boy gets destroyed helping the good guys in a battle against some big nasty (I think he and the pegasus were the only ones who could break through some wall the big nasty had created). near the end of the movie, the robot made from the head part of the ship had to battle a giant crab monster, and that's just about all I can remember from the film. The dubbing was pretty good, might have been made in America either. For some reason, the name 'Formators' is floating around in my head, dunno if it is linked in any way. So, anyone got any ideas, or just scratching their heads like everyone else I've asked so far. |

that sounds a bit like tekkaman (blade?) with pegasus and thos crablike thing you discribe but it ain't an exact match but i'd suggest you take a look at the tekkaman (blade) section and see if that is the anime you mean?

Nah, fraid it doesn't look like the one i saw. This must really be an obscure one, nobody I've asked about it so far can name it. I'm guessing the name 'Formators' might not be the origional title, guess I'll just have to keep looking. Thanks anyway

The robot you're describing shounds a lot like Gaiking. Trying looking up something called Shogun Warriors on www.google.com you may recognize the robot there. If it's a robot series from the 70's-80's then it's sure to have had a toy made for it.

well one of those robots looks similar alright. I remember there was a series of the same name as the movie I saw, but with totally different characters. I remember there were three aircraft that could combine in different ways to form different robots, one of them was called Poseidon. thanks for the clues, will investigate this further.

Ah, sounds like you're looking for the Getter Robo series. There were several different series made with the main robots including Getter Robo, Getter Dragon, Shin Getter Robo, and Neo Getter Robo. I'm pretty sure you'll looking specificly for the series Getter Robo G which was released in the US as Starvengers. The main robot vehicles in that one combine to form either Getter Dragon, Getter Liger, or Getter Posiedon. I can't find any info on an actual movie for it though.
