I caught sight of it on Russian television in Kazakhstan during the later part of our stay there. The basic story line I think is that soldiers invade a small town or village. They storm into family homes, there are shootings, executions, a soldier gets run over by a tank and I think towards the end a baby dies in the arms of its mother, who is among a group of women from the village wandering in the countryside as refugees I think. These were in the title credits actually, in a sort of montage over some classical music. The beginning of the film shows a young boy in a town square buying food at a stall, and meeting one of his friends. Another sequence I remember is that a small toy wagon rolls down the street, broken I think, and the young boy stares as it goes down. I switched on a little later and the boy was in some building with some plain clothed soldiers. A man appears and it turns out to be the boy’s father. It was dubbed into English and then dubbed into Russian, but you could still hear the English.
