Are Geneon's past titles going to be made available? Or are they never going to be in print again?

I'm hoping that Rozen Maiden is just the first series, and not RM + RM: Traumend. Judging from the price of ParaKiss, I'm thinking it's the former, since that would be both 3 discs.

Damn, I was hoping for some Sainkoku and Shounen Onmyouji release dates, too. Oh well, Black Lagoon: 2nd Barrage and Hellsing 4 will do for now, nicely! Plus it'll help spread out my spending. Razz

I'd guess its just RM S1 because they never finished releasing RM Traumend did they?

This makes me happy yet sad, Because I have vol 1 & 2 of FSN. So i'm going to be re-buying them sort of. But @ $49 a set its cheaper than buying (when they were around) two volumes of Geneon stuff in the first place.

No way to tell- it's not impossible that someone else will pick up other former Geneon releases, but aside from the Funi rescues there's no such info. Just keep an eye on the main page, they'll report if someone picks up something else- until then, assume out-of-print for good.

So I need to be on the lookout for Karin and When they Cry's 4th volumes... spiffy. Very Happy Surprised to see Elemental Gelade getting the singles treatment again though, since it was released fully by Geneon- I really thought they'd go straight to box on that one.

(An unrelated note- what's with these Circuit City ads? I'm getting real tired of having a TV or a Wiimote jump all over the post I'm reading... note to self, check cost of subscribing to site...)

Noooo!!! My poor, poor, monies Just when things were slowing down and they thought they were all safe in the bank, the releases are starting as soon as August? Funi is really coming through for us on this project. I'm also hoping that Rozen Maiden box set is S1 only, which I assume it is given the price and the pattern of releases they're doing. For now I'm just psyched about Second Barrage starting in a month, and September will be a big month for me.

The $49/set is only refering to the Rozen Maiden box set in the announcement, which will likely only be the 1'st season (3 discs). So I imagine the F/SN set will retail for a bit more.

Ahh, actually the Fate/Stay Night Box Set is already up on TRSI, and the retail on it will be $69.98, but TRSI is offering a pre-order sale price of $52.49. What's odd however is that they are offering both a Box Set and a "Limited Edition" Box Set both for the exact same price. Not sure what that's all about. If you choose to gamble however, if TRSI has a 40% off Funimation titles sale in the near future, the price will come to $41.99. All things considered, any one of those 3 prices I would consider a good deal for the entire F/SN set.

A bunch are already available for pre-order at TRSI:

New Items

I was gonna place pre-orders for the When they Cry, Hellsing Ultimate, and Black Lagoon the Second Barrage that I'm missing right away, but I think I'll wait for the next Funi sale. That's gonna be expensive anyway along with some of the original Funi titles I want and more so if they schedule some of the ADV titles by then too.

One thing that I haven't seen clarified is, will the Shana set include the OVA that Geneon licensed but never released, or will it just be 24 episodes of the TV series? I hope to find that out before buying it, but $27 at TRSI sale prices is an excellent deal.

Seeing how Funimation is doing such a great service to the fans who collected the Geneon titles by releasing new volumes of canceled series on a per volume basis I'd be surprised if they released the Shana OAV on the box set.

I personally am one of those people who would double dip on a complete box set for the OAV (looks like I'm going to do this for the unreleased episode 7 of Freedom which will be included on BE box set) but would't be too happy about it.

Funimation could have staggered the episode count differently or only release complete box sets from Geneon's canceled series to force people to rebuy these series, but fortunately they would rather not have disgruntled fans over a few extra dollars.

I'm still really amazed that they decided to release the backlogged episodes in big batches instead of skipping them altogether (which would seem economical since many are still available and the market is saturated following TRSI's recent sale) or releasing each volume one at a time until they caught up to Geneon.

Funimation really has done the best possible solution in my opinion and I plan on picking up where I left off on for Black Lagoon, Hellsing, Karin, Kyo Kara, and When They Cry. Having collected all of the canceled titles, I'm looking forward to Ueki, Rozen Maiden, Saiyunkoku and Onmyoji which I hope will have releases in October.

Steel Angel had convinced to pick up Shana awhile ago, but unfortunately it was already all but impossible to find by then and I don't trust EBay or Amazons Marketplace. This re-release is great news in that regard as I had pretty much given up on ever seeing it legitimately.

Where did you get this price from? I see it listed there now as $52.49, and this is a title I am interested in getting as well.
With several others apparently...

Hellsing Ultiamte 4 is the only one I'm concerned about for the Geneon titles, but I'm also wanting to look at the Grappler Baki complete collection.
