A bit defensive, are we? Gangsta, whatever, who says console RPGs make you a nerd? Classification and stereotyping never get you anywhere.
The only console RPGs I've played lately have been Knights of the Old Republic and Shenmue (if you can call it an RPG). I'm not a fan of Square-Enix or Squenix or whatever, as most of their games just seem...blah, to me. Generic, linear adventure stories...not even RPGs really, as you assume a predetermined character and follow a predetermined path to a single predetermined outcome. No freedom to make your own character, no freedom to follow your own path, no freedom to determine your own destiny...all of which are traits of genuine RPGs. Just...Cloud goes here, Cloud does this, no matter what Cloud does, Aerith still dies. Whoo. At least with Knights of the Old Republic, you have the chance to save Bastila.

woah a little serious and quick to judge are we???? Next time I'll write J/k for you next time? cool? ? anywayyyyz yea i feel what you saying, but the final fantasy 7 story was something you couldnt experience unless you went through the whole thing you know. I feel more satisfied at the end of an rpg than i do at the end of a series, especially if the game had a good ending, because without You, there is no ending. But some rpgs, make you feel like you watching an anime (XenoSaga) - it was tight, but i would rather buy a movie than go through all those cutscenes again.
Get at me

I play D&D, Ravenloft, and BESM.
And we're not all geeks. Most of the Ravenloft group I play with are actually cute girls.

I don't play much video games, the only thing I usually play is Animal Crossing . But then again, I'm definetly not the average anime fan.

I would be willing to be alot of anime fans do (no offense meant) but not me. I'm actually just not a big RPG fan. In fact, I could probably name all the RPG"s I've played on one finger.
Star Wars: KOTOR
Final Fantasy VII
Super Mario RPG
Chrono Cross
see!
and shouldn't this at the least, be posted as Off Topic?

.hack//game (all 4 discs)
Legend of Mana (PS version. I think this was an RPG)
Eh... thats all I can think up of right now.

Hmm...the comment about anime fans are nerd wasn't cool, but I forgive you. ^^;
I'm definitely an anime fan and I indeed love RPG games. They're both quite similiar, anime and rpg games I mean (especially if it's made by a Japanese company). I enjoy rpg games because there's a plot and I have a goal in the game. I don't like those game that you're just looking forward to something tougher to shoot at. Plus I can't aim so I'll definitely loose. LOL

Well, I used to play a lot of RPGs when I was in junior high and high school. But after HS, I just didn't really get into them any more.
I used to like the Final Fantasy series a lot, but it's been so long since I've played any of them. As Nagisa-sama said, they are pretty linear. However, I really like Chrono Trigger (you can change your destiny up to 15 different ways... .)
As for my favorite RGP series, I'd got with Gensosuikoden. The whole 108 Star of Destiny theme is very cool to me, and those games usually have good stories (well, up to the second one, the third one wasn't that great.)
But nowadays, I usually only play action/adventure or sports games; Madden, Tenchu, Onimusha, Dynasty/Samurai Warriors, and a little Mario Kart Double Dash at my friend's .
Halo's pretty fun, but I only like playing it in groups and on separate TVs .

RPG = Role Playing Game. RPGs are made to be followed exactly or else it's an adventure game. Rpgs are usually just stories that where made into games.
