Hi gang, We are new to this forum but not to anime. A little query and accept our apologies if this is not the correct sector to ask it in. We remember an anime series in the late '60s or early 70's on Philadelphia's Channel 17 Monday through Friday sometime between 12PM and 6 PM EST/EDT. It was VERY similar to Sailor Moon and featured Japanese schoolgirls in uniforms like SM. The opening and/or closing anime showed the school. It was somewhere in the Japanese countryside near a large city. It was surrounded by a five foot high stone wall. Do any of you know its title by any chance? It was both English dubbed and sometimes also subbed. Really appreciate it if we can solve this mystery! Thanks a lot. Happy Animeing to all.

Was it black-and-white? or color?
Do you remember any of the character's names? Were there any animals or other creatures that might've played a significant role in the series? What sort of technology was present; modern day? Futuristic? Historical? Those'll help narrow down the possibilities a bit, I think. |

If your SM means "SM" and not "Sailor Moon" I think I got your TV series: It's the first version of "Cutie Honey" (1973-74).
Cutie was a femenine android who attended a japanese catholic school fulled up of lesbian teachers and changed her uniform to SM (but nor Sailor Moon) when the Evil showed... This series is based on a manga by Gô Nagai and Dynamic Pro. |

No on the character names unfortunately. Modern day times. A few cats. It's been so long ago that all I can recall are the Dr. Shock Horror movie adverts dueing the show. Dr Shock (a New Jersey guy) hosted horror flicks on Saturday afternoons on TV Channel 17 which was a UHF channel around Phila. PA. Sure looked like Sailor Moon anime though. Thanks anyway. Someone posted that it may have been Cutey Honey but that does not sound like the title either.

Yeah, that's about 20 years in the future from the timeperiod we're discussing. Anyway, you still didn't answer: Was it black and white? Or color? I'm kinda hoping it's B&W because that would really limit the number of possibilities. :) |

Seem to recall the show in color but it does not seem to have been Cutey Honey. Will check Samurai Pizza Cats though. What was the premise or plot of the series? Thanks--
