I was looking around for new and interesting mangas that I have not read.. when I came across a few titles that were kind of interesting. As the topic states - nobody I know has read or even heard of them, here they are.

Reiko the Zombie Shop
The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service
MPD - Psycho

Wondering if they are any good (worth buying/reading) any input would be helpful, thanks. Also, if you know any other interesting ones to read, feel free to post it or pm me.

Well, I've read the first couple volumes of MPD Psycho. I'd absolutely recommend it. The artwork is very nice, with very clean lines but still a lot of detail. The story is solid so far. It can be a little confusing but that really only stems from how you've got a lot of names to keep track of (for the same person but for various different characters). It's not really that big of a deal though.

I've read MPD Psycho, probably about 2-3 volumes and I have to say I didn't like it. I'm usually into dark and psychological stories but I found MPD Psycho really boring. It's just that it's too serious - Even with psychological and horror stories, I'd like to get a laugh or at least excitement from the story now and then.

Have you read 20th Century Boys? It's psychological, but it's a lot more entertaining than MPD Psycho.

I'll have to check that out, too. Hopefully both will be good, I just got another shelf to fill up, must not leave it empty for long!! I'll never understand why people would throw away perfectly good bookshelves, freakin' weirdos.

Any more suggestions or comments on the previously mentioned ones? All feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I've read the first 7 volumes of Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service (that's all that's been published in English so far I think), and it is definitely a fun little series. In some ways it feels sort of like Ghost Hunt, though less shojou-like in its presentation. You have a variety of members of a group that have different specializations in both supernatural and mundane areas. One of them can dowse for corpses, and one of them speaks with the corpses, for instance, while another is a professional embalmer.

There's a bit of comedy to the series as well, but mainly it focuses on the mystery and horror aspects. Some of the images are graphic, which is probably why it's shrink-wrapped. There is an ongoing storyline outside of the individual chapters that is still somewhat vague after 7 volumes, but it is definitely there.

The main focus though is always on finding more dead guys whom they can help out in return for some hidden cache of money/treasure, since they're almost always broke.

I've read both MPD and Kurosagi and I love both. MPD has a tendency to be a love it of hate it work. I think the problem stems from the slow release schedule. To really enjoy it I think you need to read the work almost back to back. Still, especially with the release of vol 7, this work manages to surprise you just as you begin to think you've sorted it out. Kurosagi is just as good. It is more friendly to mass appeal, but still widely ignored. The artwork is beautifully detailed and the storyline are fantastic.

I would seriously recommend both. Also if you like Kurosagi pick up Mail. It is by the same team of authors and the main character in Mail does cross over into Kurosgai once. But you can still enjoy Kurosagi without reading Mail. Mail is only 3 vols long and is completely released.

As for Reiko the Zombie Shop, I have only read reviews on websites. And the reviews are not good. It seems to be a fanservice type series. I at one point considered this series but decided against it. But I would recommend checking out the reviews yourself. Also see if Tokyopop offers are free first chapter read (or justmanga does this sometimes too).

Well I had typed out a lengthy response to the both of you, but the window froze and lost it all, so of course all that was said was lost to time. Though it was something like.. thanks for the in-depth informed responses, I grow tired of people saying "It's good, buy it." without even a reason. I might still check out reiko despite bad reviews.. since reading materials are in high demand lol.

Will definitely pick up Mail, since short lived series' seem to be great gifts in little packages.. like Zombie Powder, Gunsmith Cats, FLCL and Death Note. Sure, FLCL and Death Note got major publicity on Cartoon Network and still are, but they were great books beforehand. Of course there's also Rosario+Vampire, which is a little over halfway done with, is starting to creep onto the American shelves, highly recommend it.

I Believe that was what I was going to say.. but will never know for sure. If anyone else knows some interesting books to read, feel free to post them and be sure to explain why.
