Ah, thanks for pointing that out. We forgot to update the metadata from last week's show.

If you already downloaded it in iTunes, just delete the episode, then right-click (control-click) the ANNCast header and choose "show all available episodes." The episode will reappear and you can download it fresh.

Thank you so much for this enlightening interview. I don't know what I'd do without ANN right now...

I really hope that, if animation work does get farmed out overseas during this crisis, it doesn't wind up being permanent. That'd be a terrible shame... Not that that's anywhere close to being a priority right now, of course. (Except for the animators, I certainly hope they're able to secure their livelihoods soon!)

Easily the most depressing ANNCast ever, though I will say that it was also one of the most informative. You're absolutely correct in that in times of tragedy people need to escape what happened. Baseball was used as one in 2001 when it kind of made us forget the tragedy as the World Series that year was one of the best.

Yeah it is really terrible. I was planning on teaching in the Sendai region actually where by friend lived. She jut moved here 3 months ago. But her parents and freinds and brother are there in Iwanuma. They are at someones house and have 1 week ration of food. I can't seem to get proper understanding of which cities were affected. Is Iwanuma okay? I hope so...and what about Matsushima? I also worry about that aquarium there too...

Let me also echo my thanks as well. Very informative, especially with regards to infrastructure and what people have to deal with day to day

Listened to this on the bus. Just wanted to say thanks to Zac and ANN in general for putting this together, it's great to get a first hand account of what's going on in Japan right now.

While Zac is right in that anime really doesn't matter right now, to be honest I've always been worried about what would happen to the anime industry if something really bad happened in Japan. I've been hearing for years now that it's inevitable that Japan will some day experience a devestating earthquake (I've actually seen Tokyo described as "The city waiting to die"). Obviously that day hasn't quite come, since the quake thankfully occurred offshore and not directly under Tokyo or another major city, but it's always been in the back of my mind.

it looks like most shows are just delay for one week. Many shows like Fairy Tail, Bleach, naruto are schedule just like normal on CR.

Lets just hope, they don't send all the jobs to Korean and Japan has a fast recovery.

could you put the links to those charity podcast on the ANNCast page somewhere? just so they're together and easier to find.

Far from depressing, I found Pinansky to be -strangely enough- uplifting and encouraging in the face of so much tragedy. Indeed, he was an excellent guest; very informative, well educated and well spoken.

Kudos to Zac & Justin for getting him on ANNCast.

I've wanted to have Sam on an ANNCast for ages. Shame it had to be under these circumstances.

Best not to count your chickens though, they may just be going by the existing schedule until they hear otherwise.

As a followup to what I said in the interview, I've heard from Medianet that Pierrot (the studio that animates Naruto and Tegami Bachi, for example), does not foresee TOO many delays.
If they are hit by a blackout during a workday they are intending to simply work into the night to finish that day's schedule.

I'm a little skeptical that they'll truly be able to keep up the normal pace, but we'll see.
