While I agree with most of the review but C+ for art and animation?!? Art and animation was superb for DEEN Standard. In fact it was the only quality that remained sort of consistent throughout the second half.

C+ Art makes sense to me. Great artwork by Deen is still average at best.

Not everyone agrees on everything. I thought the senile grandpa was comedy gold...

A) People bash on DEEN way more than is actually reasonable (see also: Staff, JC)

B) Sankarea's art was, by and large, fantastic, and the animation was no slouch either.

C) This is essentially the same grade given to goddamn Total Eclipse's art and animation

The hairstyle Chihiro has resembles cat ears, not demonic horns. He has a cat-and-dog duo thing with Ranko (whom he calls Wanko, 'wan' being the Japanese onomatopoeia for a dog's bark).
Other than that, I enjoyed and appreciated this review. (I agreed with it, too, which hardly hurts.)

I still contend that Mysterious Girlfriend X was the best of the bunch and Sankarea the worst, but we've already been through that in the Sankarea discussion thread so I won't say any more about it.

I would love to learn more about what the backstory was behind spoiler[Chihiro's mother. We are shown a brief scene where she was a savage zombie/monster tied up with chains, and it seems like his father had to kill his mother.] But why? How? I hate it when series drop huge bombshells like that and then don't explain them.

Probably the only thing you can do since I heard this anime didn't do so hot in Japan.

so i have to read the source material because they where to lazy adapt/animate scenes that need to be covered... that's not how adapts are suppose to work. Then again this is the same deen that gave us sea cats "umineko anime"

For a deen project it was fairly decent next to kore no zombie visual wise but my bar is set pretty average as it is. I really think they need to do a few more ova's just to wrap up the abrupt ending that left me wanting more.

I couldn't have sold worse that kill me baby at 670 copies per volume and it still got a second season. Different genre's and studios. I realize this but come on if it broke the 2000-4000 mark per volume there is still a chance.

No, they weren't "too lazy" they "didn't get to that part of the story". Or you can make a cheep, undeserved stab at DEEN. Whatever works for you.

I think it depends on the scale you're comparing. If you're doing intra-studio comparisons (which generally makes more logical sense to me) then C+ Art/Animation by DEEN is too low for this show as this is easily one of the better DEEN animated shows in a long while. On the other hand, if you're comparing across industry, then it makes perfect sense when you take into account ufotable, SHAFT, KyoAni, A-1 Pictures, and Satelight as examples of "quality" animation.

19, *1,487 Sankarea

It didn't even get to 2k, so the chances of a sequel are insanely low.

you are really starting to pi** me off fence-dude my main point still stands. It's an adaption that needs to explain the story on it's own, if it has to the person interested rely on the source material understand what's going on then it fails on what an adapt is suppose to do. Anime companies need to stop relying on the hope of getting a second season and wrap up story within a given time-frame.

I'm so sorry I'm pissing you off. Which you don't have to censor, for the record. And my name isn't hyphenated. Thank you.

And no, they don't. Doing stuff like that is what brought us the disasters that are the Shana and ZnT adaptions, where changing the story to try to "conclude" things each season just caused massive problems later on.

Not to mention that one of the main purposes of anime adaptions is to sell more of the source material (in this case the manga). The show did not get to the point where that plot point would be directly addressed, but there is no reason for it not to have been included, simply to satiate the whims of people who are only tangentially the intended audience.
