2nd Yo-Kai Watch Season Premieres on August 1 on Disney XD

posted on by Karen Ressler

The official English Yōkai Watch Twitter announced on Monday that the second season of Yōkai Watch will premiere on August 1 on Disney XD. The first season premiered on Disney XD on November 6.

Nintendo previously revealed that the season would begin this summer. Nintendo describes the season:

This season, join Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan as they get the new Yōkai Watch Model Zero. But just because he has a new watch, that doesn't mean Nate's life will get any easier. Season 2 has more Yo-kai, more miniseries, more episodes and, most importantly, more laughs! Tune in to see how a new cast of Yo-kai interrupts Nate's normal life in unexpected and hilarious ways.

The DVD release of the first season will ship in the United States in late 2016.

The rest of the franchise will continue this year, including Viz's release of the manga, the trading card game, and the Yōkai Watch Wibble Wobble game app. Level-5's Yōkai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yōkai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls Nintendo 3DS games are slated to debut in the United States on September 30. This fall, Hasbro is introducing a Yōkai Watch Model Zero toy that ties into the one seen in the second anime season. The watch can project animation of a particular Yo-kai character when that character's Yo-Motion Yo-kai Medal is inserted into the watch.

Level-5 announced the Yōkai Watch franchise in 2011 with a game, manga, and anime already planned. The first game for the Nintendo 3DS shipped in Japan in July 2013. The television anime then premiered in January 2014. The first two editions of the Yōkai Watch 2 games shipped in Japan in July 2014 under the titles Ganso (Founder) and Honke (Head). The first game and anime then launched in the United States last year. The Yōkai Watch 3 games, whose stories are set in the United States, will ship in Japan on July 16.
