Film distributor Odex revealed on Thursday that SM Cinema is adding more locations for the Philippine screening of the Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale film over "the next few days." Odex listed the Bacoor, Cebu, Iloilo, Calamba, Pampanga (including the Clark Freeport Zone), Davao, provinces, and the SM City East Ortigas mall in Manila. Ticketing website Click the City is already listing showings in SM City Calamba, SM City Pampanga, and SM Clark with multiple screenings for Friday.
SM Cinema screened the film in a limited engagement on February 18 at SM Megamall, alongside the film's opening day in Japan, and similar screenings in other Southeast Asian territories. The film was scheduled for only one screening, but a new screening was added after the first screening was fully booked. SM Cinema added screenings on Sunday soon after. SM Cinema added more screenings in more venues in Manila on Wednesday.
The film sold about 308,376 tickets for 425,762,760 yen (about US$3.76 milion) to top the Japanese box office during the February 18-19 weekend. The film has set an opening-weekend record among films distributed by Aniplex.
