The names of all members of the SSS seem to be derived from well-known public works contracting companies in Japan (Yuri Public Works, Iwasawa Construction .etc). See source for a full matching list.

In both openings from angel beats, the glowing lights that rise up are the same lights from clannad, another creation made by key.

Nearly all of TK's lines are from songs by TM Network, a Japanese rock band who's keyboardist is Tetsuya Komuro (also known as TK).

Episode 11 is titled "Knockin' on heaven's door", the name song written and performed by Bob Dylan for the soundtrack of the 1973 film Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid.

Shiori Sekine, the bassist of Girls Dead Monster, has the same name as the bassist of Base Ball Bear.

In ep 3, there is a closeup on a vending machine around 5:38. In this shot, you can see a parody of the water company "Volvic". In the scene it is named "Bolvic"

In episode 3, when imagining what the "Angel area" looks like, Otonashi pictures locations from Studio Ghibli films "Castle in the Sky" and "Howl's Moving Castle."

In episode 10, not only does the canned drink Yui have in hand have the Key company logo on it, but later in the episode, there's a short glimpse of the dinosaur, a stuffed animal version of the dog Potato, and Botan by Yui's bedside after leaving the hospital (all three of which are from Key titles; Air and Clannad).
