Hiroshi Masuoka, Hiroshi Ōtake, Jōji Yanami, Machiko Soga, & Ryō Ishihara were the only voice actors from the first two Cyborg 009 movies to have repraise their original roles as 005, 004, Dr. Gilmore, 007, & 002 respectively for this TV anime.
While this TV anime series partly resembles the first two Cyborg 009 anime movies. It is however set in a separate continuity due to absence of the Black Ghost Organization. While there were two episodes that featured a smaller similar terrorist group known as the "Ghost Alliance", the group however wasn’t responsible for the 00 Cyborgs having their cyborg implants and abilities.
The plot in episode 1 is a loose adaptation of the Monster Island Arc from the original Cyborg 009 manga.
The plot in episode 2 is the first anime exclusive episode to not be inspired by a preexisting manga chapter.
The plot in episode 3 is a loose adaptation of the Aurora Strategy manga story from the original Cyborg 009 manga.
In episode 3 marks the first time in which all nine cyborgs of the 00 cyborg team were all seen in the same episode.
In episode 3 marks the first time in which 003 was seen wearing her 00 cyborg uniform.
Goof: In episode 4, the threat note Dr. Barbon receives from the Space Demons is written in English but contains various spelling & grammatical errors.
The plot in episode 5 is a loose adaptation of the Phantom Dog side story from the original Cyborg 009 manga.
In episode 5 marks the earliest episode in which 006 doesn’t make an appearance.
In episode 9 marks the first time in which 003 appears but has no lines of dialogue.
In episode 10 marks the earliest episode in which 003 and Dr. Gilmore do not make an appearance. However Dr. Gilmore’s voice can be heard on a tape player in one scene of his research on the Incan Tribe.
In episode 10 marks the first episode in which 005 has a speaking role.
In episode 11 marks the first episode in which 008 has a speaking role.
In episode 11 marks the first episode in which the country of Japan was never shown.
In episode 14 marks the first episode in which 001 appears but has no lines of dialogue.
In episode 17, while Skull Mask was based on Skull the powerful tyrannical Black Ghost Organization leader from the original Cyborg 009 manga. Skull Mask however was a minor, ineffectual minion for his single appearance in this episode.
In episode 26, while all nine 00 cyborgs have been seen grouped together in three prior episodes. This is the only episode in which all nine cyborgs were ever seen sharing the same scene together.
