Sakai chosen from 13,000 applicants for stage musical
Photo idol Ran Sakai won the audition to play Konata Izumi in the upcoming stage musical adaptation of Kagami Yoshimizu's Lucky Star manga. The selection was revealed on Sunday during the Haji-sai festival at Washinomiya Shrine, the real-life locale seen in the anime. The audition attracted over 13,000 applicants.
Sakai joins a cast that already includes:
- Yurika Sannomiya as Misao Kusakabe
- Mayu Yoshioka as Ayano Minegishi
- Motoko Nakane as Nagisa Nagatoro
- Mao Higuchi as Aoi Higashimatsuyama
- Chika Kumagai as Chinami Koshigaya
- Ryousuke Tsuruta as Blaster Kino
- Kensuke Fukuyama as Kawai Tobashiya
- Shin Ginoza as Ozaki Angel
- Sho Takano as Aizaki Kamisori
- Mizuho Nagashima as Akira Kogami
The musical will run from September 20 to 30 at Tokyo Dome City's Theatre G-Rosso. In July, the website for the musical posted clips of the cast dancing in costume:
