Dark Knight Trilogy Producer Works with Japanese Animators on Dark Eye Pachinko Game

Producer Michael Uslan plans to create TV series, film from new superhero franchise

Executive producer Michael Uslan (The Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel sequel) and his son David Uslan (Sabrina: Secrets of a Teenage Witch, second from right in photo) are partnering with Icon Pictures' president Takeshi Hirota (second from left) and Japanese animators Takuya Wada (far left) and Mikio Hayamizu to produce the Dark Eye superhero pachinko game. Michael Uslan and Hirota plan to market the property first as a pachinko game before eventually turning it into a television show and film in Japan, with plans then to introduce the property to the United States once it is established in Japan. The project is a part of the Japanese government's Cool Japan project to promote Japanese culture overseas.

Iron Man co-creators Bob Layton (pictured far right) and David Michelinie created Dark Eye, which is about a powerful company chairman who has two secrets: he is a hybrid human and a famous crime fighter by the name of Night Striker.

Icon Pictures will use TV and print ads to promote the pachinko game, which the company hopes to release within one to two years.

David Uslan is also planning to produce other projects with Icon Pictures with a global audience in mind. These projects will be based both on original material and existing Japanese and U.S. content.

Wada has worked as an animation director for Patlabor The Mobile Police, Fist of the North Star, and Spirit Warrior. He also directed, wrote the storyboard and screenplay, directed the animation, and designed the characters for the Violence Jack 3 video anime. Hirota has worked on various Locke the Superman OVAs, and he wrote, produced, and served as executive director for the Sukeban Deka video anime series.
