Fan Video Delves into the Differences Between the Akira Manga vs. Film

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Cinefix YouTube channel and Anime Vice's Tom Pinchuk teamed up to give an in-depth look at the differences between Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Akira dystopian sci-fi manga and the anime film adaptation. The most notable difference between the two is obviously length. Otomo directed the anime film before the manga was finished, so the film's climax actually takes place about halfway through the story. The video goes beyond the obvious examples, and details the latter half's plot development and characters.

The video delves into more answers for viewers who never picked up the manga, but beware there are plenty of spoilers.
