The life-size figure of Re:Zero's Rem is currently on display at the Gamers' head office in Akihabara to celebrate the character's birthday. February 2 wasn't just Rem's birthday, though. The character's twin sister Ram also shares the day but doesn't seem to garner as much attention.
Life-size figure-maker FigureX announced on its blog on Monday that Ram is joining her sister. The company shared an image that might be the figure's inspiration pose.
The Rem figure garnered quite a few pre-orders despite its US$12,600 price tag. FigureX expanded the statue's run from 10 to 30 to meet demand. The figure stands about 149 centimeters (about 4'11") tall with the pedestal and FigureX is using a digital mold and high-performance 3D printer to create the figures. Pre-orders for Rem closed on her birthday and customers are expected to receive the statues in August.
Staff also announced a new Rem figure on February 1st at the opening of Rem birthday event at Gamers. The figure of Rem sitting in a negligee was drawn by the light novel series' artist Shinichirou Ōtsuka. The 1/7-scale figure is expected to be released in the fall.
Plans for yet another Rem figure also in the works with more information set to be announced on February 22. The event also had posters for the following announced figures:
