AnimeNewsNetwork spoke to Express.com representative Dan Wool regarding the recent stories of Express.com's financial difficulties.
Mr. Wool confirmed the authenticity of the "internal memo" which was publicised yesterday, and confirmed that Express.com subsidiary GFN had financial dificulties due to low advertising revenue, and that Express was indeed put on COD by some suppliers (presumably due to GFN's drain on liquid capital).
Mr. Wool however stated that despite the COD terms, the situation of Express.com as compared to GFN is like "apples and oranges". Express.com's sales have been high and they are expecting a better than ever 4th quarter as the number of in home DVD units grows to as many as 14 million (in the USA). Express.com foresees no problems suplying customers' DVDs on schedule.
