Adds to its growing list of records

Video Research Co. announced today that the Japanese TV premiere of Spirited Away on the 24th acquired an average rating of 46.9% in the Tokyo area, topping topping Kitakitsune Monogatari's ("The Fox Story ") ratings record of 44.7% set in August 1979 on Fuji TV.

In the 30 minute special program before Spirited Away, Nihon TV showed film clips from each different language version of Spirited Away; French, Cantonese (Chinese), Mandarin (Chinese), English and others. Viewers found that they all had the infamous red tint.

Also before the broadcast of the movie before broadcasting Spirited Away, Nihon TV aired pilot film by a young Miyazaki of a shelved Anime project that had been turned down by producers.
