Vexille Wins Animation Award at Philadelphia Film Fest

Jury names all-CG science fiction anime "best animated feature"

The jury of the 17th annual Philadelphia Film Festival has named Fumihiko Sori and Oxybot's computer-animated Vexille the best animation feature of this year's competition. In the story's fictional future of 2077, Vexille is a female operative of an American special forces unit that infiltrates Japan after the country has isolated itself from the rest of the world for a decade. Other animated features at the festival included Dead Fury and Film Noir. Vexille has been screened at several film festivals, such as the Independent Film Festival of Boston, Italy's Future Film Festival, and the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival, but this is the first time that is has won an award. In the United States, the film has been licensed for DVD release by FUNimation Entertainment, and the film is set to be available starting May 20.
