Nodame Cantabile Manga to Bundle Anime DVD, CD in April
posted on by Egan Loo
The Japanese publisher Kodansha has announced that a limited edition for the 24th volume of Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile manga will ship on April 26 with an original animation DVD and The Magic Flute CD.
The DVD will contain a special side story created by Ninomiya herself. The CD will include the music of The Magic Flute opera by Mozart, as it was featured in the Nodame Cantabile Encore Opera Edition manga. Nodame Cantabile Encore Opera Edition is the new side story manga series that Ninomiya launched in December, after she ended the main Nodame Cantabile manga story in October. The 24th Nodame Cantabile manga volume is composed of chapters from the Encore Opera spinoff.
The story of the original manga centered on two music prodigies, Megumi "Nodame" Noda and Shinichi Chiaki, who find themselves on parallel paths in Japan and later Europe. The upcoming original animation DVD will deal with a certain day when Nodame and Chiaki are in Paris. Nodame and another student named Lucas Bodley go on a date, to the consternation of Chiaki.
The first of two live action Nodame Cantabile Saishū Gakushō (Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score) films opened in Japan on December 19, and the final television anime series premiered last month. Del Rey published the 17th volume of the manga in North America last month.
