Auction for bonus film strip with Asuka closeup ends with 113,201-yen bid

Japan's Fuji-Q HighLand amusement park has posted its first progress report video on the world's first life-size bust of the EVA-01 unit from the Evangelion anime franchise on Wednesday. The video covers the drafting of the 150-million-yen (about US$1.6 million) attraction and the initial sculpting. The next progress report video will debut on June 9. The "Evangelion: World - Life-Size EVA-01 Construction Project" pavilion will open on July 23.

In a separate development, an auction for a film strip with the Evangelion character Asuka ended on Thursday at 113,201 yen (about US$1,252). Each copy of the Blu-ray Disc/DVD release of the Evangelion:2.22 You Can (Not) Advance (Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha) film includes a bonus film strip from the actual film reels used in the theatrical release last year. There are more than 1,400 active auctions for the bonus Evangelion:2.22 film strips on the Yahoo! Auctions website, even though the Blu-ray/DVD release just officially shipped on Wednesday.
