Ago Nashi Gen to Ore Monogatari Manga Gets Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine announced on Monday that Akira Hiramoto's gag manga Ago Nashi Gen to Ore Monogatari will be adapted into anime for the mobile phone streaming service BeeTV. The comedy story centers around Gen, a 32-year-old manager at a shipping company. He has no interests, no special skills, no talent, no money, no status, and no virtues. His one and only distinction is his thick body hair. The short gag stories follow his hapless attempts to get ahead in life, only to fall short every time.
The anime will premiere on December 20 with the first two episodes on BeeTV. The remainder of the 24 episodes will then stream, one episode every Wednesday. The original manga ran in Weekly Young Magazine from 1998 to 2009, and 32 compiled volumes have been published. Hiramoto also wrote the award-winning supernatural drama manga Me and the Devil Blues, which Del Rey published in North America.
