Los Angeles convention to also host Giant Robo/Shin Mazinger director Yasuhiro Imagawa

The Los Angeles-based Asian entertainment convention Pacific Media Expo (PMX) announced on Thursday that it will host Venus Versus Virus manga creator Atsushi Suzumi. Suzumi is currently working on two different manga, Tokyo Ravens with Kōhei Azano and Uruwashi Kaitō Alice with Romeo Tanaka. Atsushi will be conducting an autograph session and will be a part of a focus panel at the convention, which will be held from November 11-13 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport.

Del Rey Manga has published two of Suzumi's works: 2005's Haridama Magical Cram School and 2007's Amefurashi: The Rain Goddess. Studio Hibari animated Suzumi's Venus Versus Virus manga into a television series in 2006. In the same year, North American manga publisher Seven Seas acquired the North American rights to the manga. Suzumi completed the manga in 2008 and launched a new series, "dreamy action comedy" Nightmare Go Round, in 2009. Suzumi attended Sakura-Con earlier this year.

PMX will also host writer and director Yasuhiro Imagawa. Imagawa has directed several unconventional updates of classic Japanese robot stories, such as Giant Robo, Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and most recently, Shin Mazinger Shōgeki! Z-Hen. He also wrote scripts for Pet Shop of Horrors, Violinist of Hamelin, Berserk, and Hareluya II Boy. Imagawa is currently working on the manga Kōsoku Otome no Seikatai with artist Fuji Yusuyuki. Imagawa will also hold an autograph session and will attend a focus group at the convention.

The visual kei, hard rock band "D" will also attend PMX. The band will preform two concerts with autograph sessions immediately following.
