Seattle's Sakura-Con Hosts Manga Creator Atsushi Suzumi

The Seattle-based anime convention Sakura-Con added Venus Versus Virus manga creator Atsushi Suzumi to its list of guests for its 2011 event, which takes place April 22-24. According to the con's biography for Suzumi, she has "been a dedicated manga artist since kindergarten" and cites Dragon Ball's Akira Toriyama and character designer Mutsumi Inomata (Tales of Eternia, Future GPX Cyber Formula ) as influences.
Del Rey Manga has published two of Suzumi's works: 2005's Haridama Magical Cram School and 2007's Amefurashi: The Rain Goddess. Studio Hibari animated Suzumi's Venus Versus Virus manga into a television series in 2006. In the same year, North American manga publisher Seven Seas acquired the North American rights to the manga. Suzumi completed the manga in 2008 and launched a new series, "dreamy action comedy" Nightmare Go Round, in 2009.
Other announced guests include voice actress Kotono Mitsuishi (Sailor Moon's Usagi Tsukino; Chrono Crusade manga creator Daisuke Moriyama; artists VOfan (Bakemonogatari novels, Oreimo episode 12 ending illustrations) and Jo Chen (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Runaways, Street Fighter comics); North American voice actors Clarine Harp, Christopher Bevins, Tiffany Grant, Chris Cason, Cynthia Cranz, and Wendy Powell; and musical guests exist†trace, Berryz Kobo, DJ Saiyan, Spunk Da Bunny, Sixh., Dj Blade, and DJ Rize.
