T3 Networks Media Distributor Shuts Down

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

The media licensor and distributor T3 Networks Inc. announced this week that the company has ceased operations. The company announced in September that it signed an agreement with the anime distributor Viz Media for television and film distribution. T3 Networks intended to market titles on Viz Media's behalf to television companies and other venues looking for programming content.

T3 Networks' farewell message stated "we lack the sales, personnel and additional resources essential to continue operations as a business." The distributor cited problems with licensing, copyright issues, and day-to-day operations. The company thanked its supporters but said "we do not have the financial and human capital resources to take on all of these challenges."

T3 Networks also its acknowledged its participation in last week's Internet "blackout" campaign to protest the U.S. Congress' Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) bills.
