Funimation, Milyoni Launch Anime Streaming Platform on Facebook

Video streaming service allows users to rent anime episodes, films for 2 days

The North American anime distributor FUNimation Entertainment and the social entertainment company Milyoni announced on Monday that it has launched a Social Cinema app on Funimation's Facebook page to allow fans to stream anime series and films on Facebook.

The app allows users to rent anime episodes in 4-6 episode "bundles" that allow for an unlimited amount of views for 48 hours. Users can pay for the bundles via PayPal or credit card. The bundles range from US$0.99 to US$3.99. The Social Cinema app currently has 23 anime series or films, and two live-action films available for rent.

When asked how the new platform would provide anime fans with a different experience than the streaming options already available, Milyoni's CEO John Corpus told ANN, "The partnership between FUNimation and Milyoni allows fans to give Facebook users access to FUNimation's tremendous library of films and episodes cost-effectively. Using Milyoni's technology, not only can fans view the episodes direct from Facebook, they can also share the experience with friends via a chat functionality."
