posted on by Ko Ransom
A page on the website for Shueisha's Jump Square magazine has revealed that a "Chapter Zero" from Nobuhiro Watsuki's original Rurouni Kenshin manga is currently scheduled to be published in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August. The page has also revealed that a Rurouni Kenshin smartphone application featuring manga chapters, wallpapers, and video clips will be released in early May.
Jump Square will begin running Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin -Cinema-ban- (Rurouni Kenshin: Cinema Version) starting with the magazine's May 2 issue. The series will focus on battles fought with characters from the upcoming live-action film.
The film will open in Japan on August 25. The first half of the new Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-Hen anime project recently opened in two theaters in December, and the second half is slated to be completed this summer. Viz Media publishes the manga in North America. While Watsuki is working on the new Rurouni Kenshin manga, he is putting his Embalming - The Another Tale of Frankenstein manga on hiatus until fall.
