After School Midnighters Submitted For Oscar

The producers of After School Midnighters have submitted the film for an Academy Award in the "best animated feature film" category. The full-CG anime feature is slated to open in Japan on Aug. 25.
In the slapstick comedy story of After School Midnighters, a human anatomical model comes to life at midnight in a science classroom at an elite elementary school. Kouichi Yamadera (Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion) is starring in the film as the naked anatomical model Kunstlijk, and Hiromasa Taguchi (Kaasan - Mom's Life) will voice the skeleton specimen Goth. Hitoshi Takekiyo is returning to direct the film after directing the original 2007 CG anime short After School Midnight (Hōkago Midnight).
France's L'étrange Festival will screen the European premiere of the film in Japanese with English subtitles on September 6 and again on September 16.
