Voice actress Junko Iwao reported on Friday that anime producer Touyou Ikeda passed away on February 17. According to Iwao, Ikeda was still in his 30s.
Ikeda was the producer or assistant producer on a number of anime such as Gate Keepers, Kaleido Star, and Romeo × Juliet. He later founded Encourage Films, which produced the Ontama net anime.
Ikeda and Iwao met through Gate Keepers, and Ikeda would later invite Iwao to appear in Romeo × Juliet, Ontama, and Ikeda's own "Ike-P Presents" events. Ikeda was known by his "Ike-P" nickname among industry members as well as fans. Iwao notes that Ikeda also nicknamed her "Gan-chan."
Ikeda had planned to work with his frequent collaborator Junichi Sato (Sailor Moon, Gate Keepers, Kaleido Star, Sgt. Frog, Aria) on a new project called Wish Angel. However, he announced on the project's website last August that the project was on hold, explaining that other matters had taken priority.
