Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzuu Gets 3D-Animated Film (Updated)

A poster displayed at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) on Thursday revealed that a 3D-animated film based on the Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzū franchise will open in South Korea this summer. The poster's tagline reads "Rescue the disappearing animals!" The poster does not mention a release in Japan. The poster also lists the anime studio Satelight and the Korean animation studio JM Animation, but does not specify if the two studios are again collaborating to produce the film.
Shōji Kawamori (Macross, Escaflowne, Basquash!) originally created the concept for the Anyamaru Tantei Kiruminzū franchise, and Satelight, Hal Film Maker, and JM Animation produced a television anime series, which premiered in October 2009. Scrapped Princess director Sōichi Masui directed the series, which ran for 50 episodes.
The "heartwarming comedy" story revolves around Riko, Rimu and Nagisa Mikogami, three cute sisters who live in Kamihama, a Japanese city abundant with natural wonders. On an otherwise peaceful day, the three come across a mysterious Kirumin compact in an attic. With the Kirumin, these character-costume-wearing girls can transform into real animals.
Shueisha's Ribon magazine also launched a Kiruminzuu manga adaptation by Kaori Hanzawa in December 2009. Shueisha published the one compiled volume in October 2010.
Update: Satelight confirmed that this film is largely a JM Animation project, and that no Japanese theatrical release is planned.
